The twin capital city witnessed incessant downpour on 13th June, 2008 which continued throughout the night created a history of worst ever flood and landslides. It is a matter of great sorrow that due to this natural catastrophe we have come across loss of lives and properties of unmatched magnitude. I appeal my people not to be panicked as the Government is making all out efforts to bring normalcy by engaging machineries to restore the disrupted essential services. The government has also issued directives to the works department to expedite restoration process on war footing. The Health Department has been sounded to provide medical assistance round the clock to the affected victims.  It has also been directed to conduct awareness campaigns in order to contain outbreak of water borne diseases in the affected areas.

Shri Dorjee Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh

The aftermath of such natural calamity is generally associated with outbreak of many forms of waterborne diseases leading to epidemic. It is therefore, essential that we all take every precaution related with food items and drinking water to avoid falling prey to diseases. I, therefore, appeal my people to take care of themselves and ensure taking only clean boil water and avail medical facilities for timely arrest of the diseases.

I seek your cooperation in this grave situation so that restoration process can be expedited to bring normal life in the track.
